Several true stories are interwoven to tell the story of a time in USA history when art was thought as something more than “just” entertainment: from Diego Rivera’s mural commissioned and then destroyed by Nelson Rockefeller to Marc Blitzstein’s Brechtian inspired Broadway musical, part of the Federal Theatre Project, that he ended up performing himself with the cast singing their parts as members of the audience. If you thought films with music cannot be thought provoking, think again (sing-along permitted throughout the film).
Runtime: 1hr 32m
Director: Tim Robbins
