Neptune Frost is the real Afrofuturist deal. A science fiction parable and a 21st century musical set in Burundi, East Africa. Described as a musical lesson in conscious collaboration between the developed and the developing world, the characters are surrounded by political violence, economic injustice and cultural alienation. The challenges are formidable, but their determined spirit is what makes “Neptune Frost” moving as well as mind-bending.

Set between states of being – past and present, dream and waking life, colonised and free, male and female, memory and prescience – Neptune Frost is an invigorating and empowering direct download to the cerebral cortex and a call to reclaim technology for progressive political ends.

This is an Afrika Eye & Trinity Presents partnership with poetry from Shakara followed by a post-screening discussion.
